Even if you believe you have good vision, you could have an underlying visual problem. Visual ailments such as short-sightedness and long-sightedness (difficulty seeing far away and up close) are very common. Over half of Australians use some form of vision correction, and just about everyone will require vision correction at some time during their life. Eye diseases can also cause vision loss such as cataracts, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. With regular eyes tests and early detection, most conditions can be prevented or corrected. Don’t wait until you know something is wrong to have an eye test; many serious conditions have little or no symptoms until they are advanced.
